Queen Anne Red-painted Chest on Frame, New England, mid-18th century, the case of five thumb-molded graduated drawers set into a molded and valanced frame with two drop pendants joining short cabriole legs, ht. 52, wd. 38, dp. 18 3/4 in. Provenance: John Walton, prior to 1968; Lillian Cogan, in 1968. Note: The Forkes note that this is the very first piece that they bought from their favorite dealer, Lillian Cogan. Estimate $3,000-5,000 two tin patches at rear of frame, some insect damage to lower front edge of case (barely visible behind frame molding), pendants replaced.
