Including: typed letter signed from Teddy Roosevelt, 10 January 1915, to Henry Curran, Chairman of the Board of Alderman in New York City; typed letter signed by Eleanor to Kate Merle-Smith, on Malacanan Palace, Manila, letterhead, thanking her for tapestry supplies, and expressing homesickness at Christmas time; typed letter signed by FDR to the same addressee (torn in half horizontally, with a chunk missing); the majority of letters addressed to Van Santvoord Merle-Smith (1889-1943) and his wife, Kate Grosvenor Fowler Merle-Smith (1888-1982); with letter signed by Kermit Roosevelt; William Jennings Bryan; and many other letters, signed by Robert Elliott Speer, Frances Cleveland Preston (Grover Cleveland's wife), Norman Davis, Cleveland Dodge, Frank Polk, Francis Duffy, Juan Trippe, H. Paul Douglass, James Forrestal, Henry Smith Leiper, Australian Prime Minister Ben Chifley, Ursula Niebuhr, G. Bromley Oxham, Mrs. Norman Vincent Peale (Ruth), Eugene Carson Blake, and others.
