Schäufelein, Hans Leonhard (c. 1480-1540) Three Woodcuts of the Crucifixion, c. 1505. Three woodcuts likely from Ulrich Pinder's (fl. 1489-1509) Der beschlossen gart des rosenkrantz Marie, including: Christ Bearing the Cross (Bartsch 34), 9 1/4 x 6 1/4 in.; Christ on the Cross (Bartsch 30), 8 1/4 x 5 1/4 in.; and Christ on the Cross (Bartsch 31), (with some areas tinted in pale yellow), 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 in.; each woodcut monogrammed in the block; two with German text in Fraktur type on versos; Hans Schäufelein's name literally means "little shovel"; he incorporates a shovel with his monogram in these three prints; matted individually.
