Parrish, Maxfield (1870-1966) Autograph Letter Signed, 15 August 1899. Two sheets of unlined wove paper inscribed on rectos, two pages, to a Mr. Thompson (likely an editor) regarding his illustrations for the upcoming publication of Kenneth Grahame's The Golden Age by John Lane, with critical analysis of the reproductions of the original drawings, some stated dissatisfaction with Lane's reception of the illustrations, and two small pencil drawings for cover design, with mentions of tail-pieces, endpapers, and other details, including his opinion that "it will take a good deal to convince me that The Golden Age is a child's book," all in Parrish's neat hand with signature with flourishes, transcript available, 10 1/8 x 7 3/4 in.
