Identified Leech & Rigdon Reverse Floating CS Sword and Scabbard, c. 1862, brass hilt with "CS" on the guard, wire-wrapped leather grip, steel blade, leather scabbard with brass drag, and middle band, throat marked on the front "RAT/4 KY" and on the back "Shilo/Vicksburg," barrel lg. 30 1/2, overall lg. 36 1/2 in. Provenance: By family descent to the consignor. Note: The sword was owned by Lieutenant Robert A. Thomson, 4th Kentucky Infantry, CSA. Estimate $7,000-9,000 Hilt has some dings, leather is worn in spots, the scabbard has a repair half way between the drag and middle band, and two screws are missing from the drag and throat.
