Federal Inlaid Cherry Scroll-top Desk/Bookcase, probably Ohio, early 19th century, the molded swan's neck cresting ending in carved and inlaid discs, centering a carved and inlaid plinth issuing a shaped device which joins the scroll top together, above upper bookcase section, and lower section of slant lid and four thumb-molded graduated drawers, all with string inlay, on shaped and carved apron joining flaring French feet, replaced brasses, old refinish, (imperfections), ht. 87 3/4, lower case wd. 38, lower case dp. 18 1/4 in. The property of Carolyn and Tom Porter Estimate $2,500-3,500 mid-molding patched, repairs/minor replacements to upper and lower back edges of lower case, minor repair to back left edge of upper case; repair to one cleated end of lid; old plugged holes from previous brasses and escutcheons on all four drawers, patch to escutcheon location in lid, evidence of removed door closure hardware Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
