Giuseppe Mazzolini (Italian, 1806-1876) Copy After The Tempi Madonna Signed and dated "Giuseppe Mazzolini/dipinse 1856" l. r., inscribed within the gold embellishment along the edge of the Virgin's cloak. Oil on canvas, 32 1/8 x 22 5/8 in. (81.5 x 57.5 cm), in a Foster Brothers frame. Condition: Lined, shallow abrasion with tiny paint loss to l.l. quadrant. Estimate $1,000-1,500 The inscription along the edge of the cloak begins "Mater Divino Amori" at Mary's head, and includes the name "Raphael Santi" on the left, as well as "Roma 1856" on the lower right. One other inscription on the lower left appears to read "W. HOV..." but the letters are very faint in this area. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
