Seymour Joseph Guy (American, 1824-1910) Girl with Geese Signed "S Guy" l. r., identified on a presentation plaque, partial London gallery label on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 11 1/2 x 10 in. (29.2 x 25.4 cm), framed. Condition: Lined. Estimate $4,000-6,000 Gallery label is likely from Cooling Galleries, which operated at 92 New Bond Street from 1911 until the mid 1970's. Very minor areas of retouch as follows: a few small lines on the bodies of the two geese on the left, perhaps some minor broadly brushed retouch to the sky, some dots to the girl's feet, and a small indistinct area in the background just to the right of the girl's hat. Frame measures 16 3/4 x 15 1/4 x 2 inches. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
