John Whorf (American, 1903-1959) Guide in the Mountains Signed "John Whorf" l. l. Watercolor and gouache on paper, sight size 14 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. (36.2 x 51.4 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Estimate $1,000-1,500 The frame was opened during preview, but the watercolor is sandwiched in the mat, which could only be opened a little bit without possibly damaging the mat. The watercolor is not laid down, and it appears to have a watercolor sketch on the reverse. The bottom of the reverse has an inscription in ink, "RBl Shore Gallery." The paper is in good condition, and actual width is 21 inches. We could not measure the height due to the mat. The sight size is 14 3/8 x 20 1/4 inches. And the frame dimensions are 25 x 29 3/4 x 1 3/8 inches. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
