British School, 19th Century The Young Anglers Partial initial at l. r. edge, artist identified as "J. Faed" on labels from Frost & Reed, London, and The Sportsman's Gallery, New York, affixed to the stretcher and frame respectively. Oil on canvas, 36 x 28 in. (91.0 x 71.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, minor retouch, craquelure. N.B. It is possible that the last name of the artist is hidden by the edge of the frame. Identified as "J. Faed" on the Sportsman's Gallery label, the artist would be presumed to be James Faed (1821-1911), or possibly John Faed (1819-1902). The Frost & Reed label refers to "T. Faed" or Thomas Faed (1826-1900). Estimate $300-500 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
