Gilt-bronze Figure of Manjushri, Sino-Tibet, 18th century or earlier, seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus throne, holding a sword in her raised right hand, painted details (now mostly lost), incised with nine arabic numbers on the base, ht. 7 in. Provenance: Purchased in China in the 1930s, then by descent to the present owner. Estimate $8,000-10,000 gilt and pigment loss, minor tarnishing.
