Painting of a Prince and a Lady on a Terrace, India, Rajasthan, Mewar, 18th century, ink, opaque color and gold on wasli, depicting an erotic scene with lovers on a bed, refreshments and an attendant to one side, inside painted line borders, framed and glazed, sight size 9 3/4 x 6 in. Provenance: Purchased in the U.S. in 1972 and descended in the Steig family. Estimate $2,000-3,000 Not examined out of frame, areas of paint and gilt loss, particularly at right side of pavilion and some of gilt details.
