BRODNEY/1934" l.r., titled within the composition, a period label from a Boston artist materials supplier affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 50 x 40 in., unframed. Condition: Canvas partially disengaged from the stretcher, tear at tacking edge c.l., patch reinforcement, paint loss to l.r. corner, scattered minor paint losses and abrasions, canvas rippling and deformation, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. The full quote inscribed within the composition reads, "WE SURVIVED THE AGES/NOT BY OUR MIGHT/ NOR BY OUR POWER/BUT BY OUR SPIRIT." Estimate $300-500 Under UV examination, there is some fluorescence which seems to be naturally occuring rather than retouch. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
