Mahogany Veneer Chest of Four Drawers, possibly Southern United States, early 19th century, the top with exaggerated serpentine front and serpentine sides on a case with conforming serpentine front and cockbeaded drawers with highly figured veneer, all on small French feet, ht. 36 1/2, wd. 45 1/2, dp. 24 in. Estimate $2,000-4,000 burn mark (approx. 3 in dia) and other minor staining to top. Chips to top edge veneer and apron veneer and veneer cracking elsewhere. Brasses appear original. Minor losses to cockbeading and some roughness at drawer corners and edges. Some roughness and minor losses to feet and base but no replacements.
