"The Lotus," William Harper, c. 1998, the sculptural brooch with cloisonne enamel and baroque pearl, with opal and Roman glass terminal, in 14kt to 23kt gold, lg. 6 in., signed. Note: William Harper was born in 1944, in Bucyrus, Ohio. In the 1960s, he studied under the enamellist Kenneth Bates at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He is best known for his richly colored cloisonne enameled jewelry and objects. His work is in the Smithsonian and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
