Condition: Scattered minor paint losses, probably old retouch, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. This work is a late 19th century copy after the original painting, dated 1873, now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The Met notes that the picture was Cot's greatest success, widely admired and copied in engravings, fans, porcelains, and tapestries.
