Carved Oak Egyptian Revival Part-ebonized Mantelpiece, late 19th century, the cavetto cornice centering a winged sun disk, above a half-round incised frieze and surround on outward tapering and figural carved supports, and inner border of zigzags and stylized lotus blossoms, ht. 49, cornice wd. 72 in. Provenance: The mantelpiece was originally installed the consignor's grandparents' house at 586 Newton Street, Brookline, Massachusetts. The house was demolished in 1956.
