Cheesebox Canteen Marked "M. S.," c. early 19th century, black canteen with red "M.S." carved initials on the front, with leather sling keepers and remnants of the linen sling and a pine plug, dia. 7 1/8 in. Estimate $300-500 In good condition, some of the sling is missing, with a broken leather keeper for the sling.
