James Lovell (American, b. 1928), Jack Swigert (American, 1931-1982), or Fred Haise (American, b. 1933) The Earth seen in a bright halo, Apollo 13, April 1970. Stamped 'NASA AS13-62-9025' (NASA MSC) in black on the verso. Vintage chromogenic print on fiber-based Kodak paper with 'A Kodak Paper' watermark on the verso, image size 7 1/4 x 7 in. (18.3 x 17.5 cm), unmatted. Condition: Good. N.B. Reflections in the spacecraft's window create a halo around the Earth. 'I did, of course, occasionally think of the possibility that the spacecraft explosion might maroon us in an enormous orbit about the Earth--a sort of perpetual monument to the space program,' said James Lovell. 'But Jack Swigert, Fred Haise, and I never talked about that fate during our perilous flight. I guess we were too busy struggling for survival' (NASA SP-350).
