Aaron Willard Mahogany Shelf Clock, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1825, the scroll-top case with central brass finial over the glazed dial door signed "Aaron Willard/Boston," lyre-shaped shields in red, green and gold with stenciled leaves and shells in bronze paint medium, the 8-in. roman numeral dish dial and blued-steel moon hands, the lower section with mahogany veneered panel and components stamped "49," resting on a bold pillow molding and four cast brass ball feet, eight-day time-only brass movement on a mahogany seating board, with recoil escapement all powered by a cast iron weight and regulated by a period brass-faced pendulum bob and steel rod, ht. 35 1/2 in.
