Samuel Emery Gimbaled Ship's Compass, Salem, Massachusetts, first half 19th century, 6 1/2-in. dia. dry paper compass card with name boss in the center reading "S. Emery/Salem," fleur-de-lis representing north with banner reading "Browning Boston," and a sun in the east quadrant, brass gimbaled, white-painted interior bowl mounted to an oak box, together with a small 2 1/2-in. dia. green-painted unmarked cased compass.
