S. Browning Mahogany and Brass Semi-circumferentor, Boston, first half 19th century, mahogany instrument with inset brass semicircular scale with inner/outer markings 0-180, stamped "S. Browning Maker Boston" above the trough compass with silvered dial engraved "N/S," shaped blued needle, brass alidade attaches to the threaded post with a knurled screw, and a brass staff mount underneath, lg. 10 1/2 x 6 in.
