Merrill Carbine, c. 1860s, walnut stock, steel fittings, saddle ring on the left side of the stock, blued-steel patch box, lock marked with patent dates and stamped "949" on the tail, barrel lg. 22 1/8, overall lg. 37 3/8 in. Provenance: The collection of Don Troiani. Estimate $400-600 Stock has some dings and nicks, front barrel band is broken (not the proper barrel band), marked 949 on the lock plate and lever, some pitting on the barrel, and the lock and action function properly.
