Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Tall Case Clock, Aaron Willard Jr. , Boston, c. 1800, the pierced fret and reeded plinths with brass Greek-key-decorated finials, white-painted and polychrome decorated 13-in. iron dial signed "Aaron Willard Junr/BOSTON," on a Roxbury case with molded waist door and flaring French feet, (restoration, dial with some flaking), ht. 94 in. Provenance: A Hingham, Massachusetts, estate. Estimate $3,000-5,000 with two red-painted tin-cased weights, door key, pendulum, and winder. Dial old but not original to case - the two have been married. It appears as if alterations have been made to the hood and door in order to accommodate a 13-inch dial (originally a 12-inch dial was likely there). The fret is a very good replacement. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Condition requests can be obtained via email (lot inquiry button) or by telephone to the appropriate gallery location (Boston/617.350.5400 or Marlborough/508.970.3000). Any condition statement given, as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Skinner Inc. shall have no responsibility for any error or omission.
