Marc Chagall (Russian/French, 1887-1985) La toilette de Tchitchikov, 1923-27, plate 70 from Les ames mortes, published in 1948, total edition of 368 (Cramer Books, 17). Signed within the plate. Etching and aquatint on paper, plate size 11 x 8 7/8 in. (27.9 x 22.5 cm), framed. Condition: Mat burn, toning, not examined out of frame. Estimate $300-500 Sheet measures 14 7/8 x 11 in. Frame is glazed with glass. Mat burn and gentle toning. Deckled at left and bottom edges. Taped to overmat with old masking tape on the verso at the corners. Staining from corrugated cardboard backing on the verso. No additional issues to report.
