George III Mahogany Inlaid Secretaire, England, late 18th/early 19th century, stepped cornice over two glass doors, interior fitted for shelves, projecting lower case with fall-front writing surface, interior baize lined surmounted by small drawers and correspondence slots, over six short drawers, resting on arched bracket feet, ht. 94, wd. 49 1/2, dp. 21 3/4 in. Estimate $1,000-1,500 Three shelves do not fit in upper case notches but accompany piece. Piece overall has some signs of age-typical wear including nicks and scuffs, some split particularly on sides with one on right side gapping. Repair to corner on top of projecting lower case. Glazing has some panes which have cracked.
