This work is from the suite of thirteen illustrations by Picasso for the short story Le Chef-d'OEuvre Inconnu by Honoré de Balzac. It is number 98 from the edition of 99 aside from the full book edition of 340 printed by L. Fort and published by Ambroise Vollard, Paris. 1927 / 1934
