Robert Dodd (British, 1748-1815). "Hermione in the Harbour of Porto Cavallo", hand colored aquatint engraving originally published 1800 in London, England, inscribed below image lower left "Painted by R. Dodd". Maritime engraving depicting a tall ship at center in the Harbour of Porto Cavallo of the coast of France, the clipper being defended by many soldiers aboard its decks from the approaching row boats filled with men lead by their captain, Sir Edward Hamilton, an officer in the British Royal Navy. Framed approximately 29.5" x 36", sight size approximately 19.25" x 25.75".
