Salmagundi Club Shaw Prize Presentation Print: From the Shaw Prize Dinner, 1936. Inscribed "To John H. Cassel from Samuel T. Shaw/1936" l.r., embossed stamp "GS" within the image l.l. Lithographic print after an oil painting of a village in snow by F.W. Hutchinson, with over 50 original signatures below. Sheet size 19 1/4 x 18 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Foxing, minor toning, mounted to cardboard support. N.B. Beginning in 1904 and continuing for forty years, Samuel T. Shaw sponsored a purchase prize for the Salmagundi Club's Annual Exhibition of Oil Paintings . He proved a lithographic print of the winning painting signed by all members of the club attending the informal dinner in honor of the winner, and each member received a copy. The F.W.
