Pair of circa 1940 Art Deco twin bed headboards and accompanying foot boards (no rails) designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller, unsigned, featuring burled wood and walnut contrasting veneers on casters. Headboards measure approximately 33-1/2" high and 41-3/8" wide, each. Foot boards measure approximately 21" high and 42-3/8" wide. Each foot board stamped "3626".Gilbert Rohde (1894–1944), whose career as a furniture and industrial designer helped to define American modernism during its first phase from the late 1920s to World War II, is best known today for inaugurating modern design at Herman Miller Inc.
