Flemish School, 18th Century View of the River Schjeldt at Antwerp Unsigned, attributed to Peter van de Velde on a presentation plaque. Oil on canvas, 23 x 31 1/2 in. (58.5 x 79.5 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, paint losses, retouch, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. The painting at hand has been reviewed by the RKD-Netherlands Institute for Art History which identified the location and provided the suggested date to the first half of the 18th century. It may be a copy after an earlier painting, although the specific source has not been identified. It relates to views by Flemish 17th-century artists including van de Velde, Bonaventura Peeters, Jan Peeters, and Cornelis Mahu.
