Robert MacPherson (Scottish, c. 1811-1872) Four Views of Rome , including the city from Monte Pincio, the Roman Forum, and the Old Protestant Cemetery with Pyramid of Caius Cestius, the English Burying Ground, and the Tomb of Shelley, 1850s. One with a "R. MACPHERSON" embossed stamp on the mount l.c., the other with inscribed locations. Albumen silver prints mounted to board, image/sheet sizes to 16 x 11 3/8 in., unmatted, unframed. Condition: Surface scuffs, scattered pinpoint fox marks on several, fading, mounts discolored and breaking at edges. Provenance: Property from the collection of Harvey Shipley Miller, proceeds to benefit the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
