London, 1811. Engraved map mounted on linen, dissected for folding. The eighth issue of Arrowsmith's important and evolving map, updated over the years as new information on the geography of North America came to light, relying on exploring expeditions and other sources, and extensively on the fur traders and trappers of the Hudson's Bay Company. Framed. 127 x 147 inches. Property from the Collection of Mr. Kenneth Lamm Urbana, Illinois. The map is in 4 sections, or quadrants. Each section measures 31.5 x 26.5 inches. Fabric edging stitched to all four sides of each quadrant, with the exception of the top left quadrant in which the top and left edges are missing. Each quadrant is lightly tacked down to black board. Two closed tears noted along top edge of upper left quadrant with tape repair to one on verso. The map is backed with fabric (linen).
