A Midnight Race on the Mississippi. 1871. Chromolithograph. Framed and matted. Similar to lithographs by Currier & Ives, Yates & Co. also published images depicting the ever popular steamboat races. However, this work is a more unusual as the text along the bottom of the image states that it was based upon a sketch by the captain of the steamboat Lincoln. Sight: 16 1/2 x 23 3/4 inches.
