first half 19th century of sarcophagus form, the hinged top with a band of carved foliate decoration and opening to a fitted interior, the lower body with a band of repeating floral decoration, raised on foliate scroll feet. Height 10 1/4 x width 16 inches. Property from the Estate of Dr. Vincent Gambino, Naperville, Illinois In good, stable condition overall consistent with age and use. The faceted, domed top with surface wear in the form of minor scratches and nicks. Dust to the recesses of the carved foliate and floral decoration. Hinges intact. Minor nicks and abrasions to the carved feet. One of the interior compartments is broken into several pieces. Fitted with a later glass bowl. Minor nicks and surface scratches to the interior consistent with age.
