14th/15th century depicting Saint Michael and the dragon, with a later frame. Height 63 x width 21 1/2 inches. Property from the Estate of Marlene Nasreddine, Miami, Florida Painted on a porous white substance (either plaster or gesso) on wood. Significant areas of wear and loss to the edges. Two former nail holes to the upper register of the fragment, together with three spanning the left-vertical edge. Moderate to significant areas of loss to the paint and gilt decoration consistent with age, revealing the underlying white substance; age splits and shrinkage gaps throughout. Worming to the wood. Please note that the fragment has not been examined out of frame.
