Glass enclosed model of the sailing vessel San Jose of Mataro (Barcelona, Spain). Inscription on bottom reads "Pailebot San Jose, de Mataro, navegando de bolina el dia 27 de Agosto de 1884 frente a Maracaibo. Captain Jose Roig y Alsina. 225 Tons". Which translates approximately as "Schooner San Jose of Mataro, sailing from off the bow in front of Maracaibo (Venezuela) on August 27, 1884. Captain Jose Roig y Alsina. 225 Tons." The shadow box measures 12" high by 17-1/2" long and 2-3/4" deep. All measurements are approximate.
