Gould, Chester. Original Daily Newspaper Comic Strip Art for Dick Tracy. Chicago Tribune, April 13, 1977. Pen and ink on artist’s cardstock. Depicting the strip’s iconic titular character during the short timespan in which he was shown sporting a moustache, at a police press conference philosophizing on the ruinous life consequences facing any would-be lawbreaker: “You see, after a first offense, a criminal walks in the shadows. The shadows get darker and darker till he reaches the spotlight at the showup.” Framed and matted to an overall size of 9 ¼ x 21”. Faint original editorial annotations, else fine.
