George Platt Lynes (American, 1907-1955) Two Nude Studies: Ted Starkowski and Nicholas Magallanes (as Orpheus) and Francisco Moncion (as Dark Angel) in George Balanchine's Orpheus , c. 1951 and 1948, respectively. Both stamped "GEORGE PLATT LYNES/229 EAST 47 STREET NEW YORK" on the reverse in black ink at center. Gelatin silver prints, image/sheet sizes to 7 x 8 7/8 in. (17.8 x 22.5 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Starkowski with minor creases at lower corners. Provenance: Property from the collection of Harvey Shipley Miller, proceeds to benefit the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
