Arnaldo Pomodoro (Italian, b. 1926), "Lettera Solare"-1977, gilt bronze with wood plinth base, incised title, signature, date and edition number "'Lettera Solare' Arnaldo Pomodoro 77. 1/3". Bas-relief tablet or panel sculpture depicting interwoven planes of mechanical spokes orbiting a circular disk, reminiscent of captured light rays. Overall approximately 19.125" x 13.75" x 3.825". Note Arnaldo Pomodoro is renowned globally for his unique employment of geometric shapes in articulating profoundly organic concepts (destruction and regeneration). His work is held in the collections of the Vatican Museums (Vatican City), the United Nations (New York, New York) and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington D.C.) among others.
