American, late 18th century. A carved and stained oak floor book press, having a central turned wood screw device over a molded press, resting on a lower cabinet with three short drawers over two cabinet doors, with later brass hardware. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 61", width 37.25", depth 20.5".
