Schoolgirl Drawing of the "Georgia Female College," Anna M. Harris, probably Georgia, mid-19th century, fine charcoal drawing of the college building with figures at left foreground, inscribed in pen and ink in the lower margin with the maker's name and the title, surrounded by calligraphic flourishes, 15 1/2 x 19 1/2 in., in an ogee molded parcel-gilt frame. Note: Georgia Female College was founded in 1836, in Macon, Georgia, and is now known as Wesleyan Female College. It is the oldest chartered college for women in the world.
