William Matthew Prior (Massachusetts/Maine, 1806-1873) Portrait of Doctor Silas Tompkins, New Bedford, Massachusetts Inscribed "Doct S. Tompkins/Painted by Wm. M. Prior March 28 18[-]2" on the reverse. Oil on board, 19 1/2 x 15 1/2 in., in likely original ogee molded and parcel-gilt frame. Condition: Good overall. Note: Included in the lot (in a small plastic sleeve fixed to the back of the frame) are business cards for New Bedford Druggists and Apothecaries Jas. E. Blake and Frank E.
