Paint-decorated Dower Chest, Pennsylvania, late 18th century, the hinged top opens to a well with till, the name "BENJEMEN SHEFER" stenciled on the interior, with the date 1831, the front centering a mustard and yellow tombstone panel and quarter fans extending to the sides, over two drawers, with yellow grain paint and green and orange quarter fans flanked by reeded panels, all on bracket feet, (paint wear), ht. 26, wd. 45, dp. 22 in.
