A Prince performance and practice used purple microphone, used circa 2014-15. The microphone, which is either a Shure SM58 or Beta 58, has been painted purple. It is accompanied by a plastic mic clip that was also painted purple. The items come from a former guitar tech for Prince. According to the guitar tech, the microphone was used for Prince’s 2014 performance on Saturday Night Live , other live performances and practice during 2014 and 15. The guitar tech stated that, for a time, Prince preferred to have a wired microphone for lead vocals to ensure better sound quality. Housed in a Shure Beta soft-sided case.
