MIddletown Plate Co. (American, 1864-1899). A large silver plated dresser box or casket of long rectangular form raised on four bracket feet, having triangular flaring handle to either narrow end, leaf tip gallery to top of lid surrounding a field of pleated silk, with molded floral and foliate patterning to entire exterior and hinged lid opening to reveal a single silk lined compartment. Underside with impressed maker's mark over "45 / Hard / White / Metal". Approximate height 5.125", width 11.25", depth 4.5".
