Proclamation by Andrew Jackson, string bound booklet, published in 1832/33 by Henry Welsh of Harrisburg. A first edition booklet documenting the Nullification Proclamation delivered by President Jackson on December 10, 1832 as issued to the people of South Carolina disputing the state's right to nullify a federal law, the proclamation was written in response to an ordinance issue by a South Carolina convention that declared void the tariff acts of 1828 and 1832 as being in violation of the "true meaning and intent thereof" of the United States Constitution. Approximately 9.25" x 6".
