Banksy (British, 1975) FLYING COPPER - 2004 Screenprint on paper Signed, dated, and numbered lower right "Banksy '04, 99/150" 27 by 38 1/2 inches Infamous for tongue-in-cheek juxtapositions, Banksy is not one to shy away from critiques of the arbitrators of street justice. Here a police officer, outfitted in full riot gear, is contrasted with a yellow smiley face in an obvious commentary on what Banksy views as the menacing and psychoctic attitude of the miliatry and what is typically associated with bringing happiness. The soft tones of the blue background and the delicate white wings affixed to the black gear of the officer combine in an ominous message to the viewer. A happy policeman brings a most certain flight to the skies above. $15,000-25,000 REQUEST A CONDITION REPORT Categories: Banksy
