Margaret Mangan (1901-1949) "Hopi Kachinas"; signed to bottom right corner as well as labeled to back in two places (on with info on work and one with info on artist); no glass to frame; measures approximately 19-7/8" x 23-7/8" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 15-1/2" x 19-1/2"; in Fair overall condition with some wear to frame as well as light toning to painting. Margaret Mangan was the great-granddaughter of Irish poet James Clarence Mangan, famous for such poems as "Dark Rosaleen" and "The Poets and Poetry of Munster". Margaret lived in New Orleans in the early 1940s and may have painted this work there or possibly in her native Dublin where she died unexpectedly in 1949.
