French, 20th century. Cast and patinated bronze figural sculpture depicting a Gallic rooster or cock, portrayed in a triumphant and confident manner with open mouth, head turned toward side and spread feathered wings, standing on a naturalistic rocky oblong base accented with flowers, rocks and grasses, one claw resting on round orb with banner border with "FRANCE", surmounting a shaped ebonized wood base. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 12", width 13.25", depth 6.8". Note: The Gallic rooster has a been a national symbol of France since the early Middle Ages. It is most associated with French Revolution.
